Doll Face, film en français - Reine burlesque, Doll Face Carroll, est rejeté à partir d'une audition pour un spectacle de Broadway légitime parce qu'elle manque de culture. Son patron / gestionnaire Mike décide qu'elle peut obtenir à la fois la culture et beaucoup de publicité en écrivant son autobiographie. Il embauche un écrivain fantôme pour faire tout le travail, mais ne comptez pas sur la possibilité que le visage de poupée et son collaborateur peuvent avoir plus d'un livre sur leurs esprits.
