From the Terrace, film en français - Alfred Eaton (Paul Newman), un jeune homme ambitieux qui veut faire avancer les choses pour lui-même, sans rien devoir à son père, épouse une jeune (Woodward) de bonne famille à Philadelphie (Pennsylvanie). Peu à peu, Alfred commence à prospérer, même pour travailler sur Wall Street, mais le mariage ne fonctionne pas comme prévu.
