Last Kind Words, film en français - 17 ans, Eli se déplace avec sa famille à la ferme isolée de reclus Waylon, un homme dont le passé sombre menace de le dépasser. La famille d'Eli? Travaille à restaurer les champs désolés, alors qu'il devient fasciné par les forêts. Alors que sur la ferme, Eli rencontre le mystérieux Amanda quand elle lui donne une pomme. Le lendemain, elle extrait une promesse de lui pour éviter les bois profonds. Titubant d'une rencontre violente avec son père, une nuit, il rompt cette promesse et trouve son corps pendu à un arbre.
