The Age of Innocence, film en français - New York, 1870. Newland Archer (Daniel Day-Lewis), un gentilhomme de la société New York, est engagé à mai Welland (Winona Ryder), une jeune femme de sa propre classe. Mais vos sentiments changent quand il rencontre le cousin non conventionnelle mai, comtesse Olenska (Michelle Pfeiffer). Dès le début, il va défendre la position difficile de la comtesse, dont la séparation de son mari autoritaire est devenu une sorte de paria au sein de leur propre classe sociale.
