Leur esprit se manifeste maintenant dans la sorcellerie platine, capacités d'improvisation et hallucinants collages, performances et rituels. Le film secoue façons traditionnelles et stéréotypées de la réflexion sur la race, la religion, la rationalité. Grâce à des rencontres avec des musiciens, des écrivains et des artistes, des guérisseurs, des cuisiniers gumbo et Mississippi Blues hommes, le documentaire dresse un tableau d'une culture qui a toujours tiré sur un mélange unique de différentes influences ethniques pour produire sa diversité culturelle, l'allure et la vitalité.
