LE FILM - SYNOPSIS ET DÉTAILS DU FILM

Wide Sargasso Sea, film en français - Dans le sillage de l'émancipation de la Jamaïque, colon français Annette Cosway (Rachel Ward) tombe dans la pauvreté et se marie raciste Anglais Paul Mason (Michael York). Mais quand le jeune fils de Annette meurt dans un incendie déclenché par d'anciens esclaves, Mason fuit en Angleterre, laissant sa femme éplorée et sa fille créole Antoinette (Karina Lombard) derrière. Bientôt Antoinette apprend qu'elle doit se marier pour réclamer son héritage et jette son dévolu sur Rochester (Nathaniel Parker), un Anglais étrangement similaire à Mason.
